NORMAN DORAY
[FRANCE // MYSPACE.COM/NORMANDORAY]
• THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 23RD 2010 •
WARM UP BY: ANDREW P & STEVEN B
FOR HIS FIRST TIME IN CANADA
Norman began his journey on the decks back in 2002 after being influenced by the likes of fellow French house masters Bob Sinclar and Daft Punk. Proving to be a natural, just a year later Norman had secured residency at a club in Lille where he honed in on those expert skills we see today. By 2004 he was on the move, playing a number of clubs both on home turf and abroad, whilst making his first steps production wise too. In 2006, his first track ‘In The Name Of Love’, a collaboration with friend Pierre De La Touche, was released on German label Starfunk Records.
Norman and Pierre soon added Arno Cost to the bill and together they formed ‘The Freshmakers’, going on to produce the famous ‘Let You Go’, released on Serial Records. It was considered THE track of the summer in France, not only charting highly on Radio FG, Fun Radio, Contact FM, but also quickly reaching N°1 in the club charts and camping there for an amazing 6 weeks. On the tail of that success, The Freshmakers were asked to remix numerous tunes, but Norman still found time to release his first solo production ‘Jetlag’ in May 2007 on Serial Records. As a result, Radio FG acquired Norman as a resident DJ where he still remains today, churning out a one hour floor stompin’ mix show every week.
Late 2006, Norman teamed up with Arno Cost once again to produce the now legendary ‘Apocalypse’. This track put both Norman and Arno on the worldwide dance map. Many DJs played it, and still do today: Pete Tong, Axwell, Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Sebastien Léger, Tiesto and Paul van Dyk to name but a few. ‘Apocalypse’ was released worldwide on labels such as CR2, Kontor, News and Universal. An abundance of remixes soon flooded in – ‘Humanoidz’ by Tom de Neef & Laidback Luke, ‘Delirious’ by David Guetta, ‘Baba O Riley’ by Cube Guys, ‘24H’ by Seamus Haji and ‘Kalle’ by Zoo Brazil. Along with these projects, The Freshmakers trio also produced their second single ‘Miracle’ with a massive remix by Mischa Daniels. Again, full support by the leaders of the dancefloors worldwide. Gigs at Fuck me I’m Famous followed in Ibiza, as well as signing to management team Club Class Music Management in the UK.
Norman Doray’s second solo single ‘Krystal’ was released September 2008 on CR2, Serial Records and We Play. This was followed closely by a collaboration with Tristan Garner called ‘Last Forever’ Signed to 17 labels worldwide and with a video produced in Shanghai China, this record projected Norman in to the production elite.
Always spinning, always producing, Norman never stops. He’s currently putting the final touches to a new remix for Those Usual Suspects (Ministry Of Sound) and is already working on his 3rd solo project to be entitled ‘Leo’, due for release early 2009. Watch this space for a totally new concept with Arno Cost coming soon and the launch of Norman’s Record label ‘Suprem Records’.
